This is crucial because it's the MONEY POWER of any niche that ultimately decides how much the website/blog owner and affiliate within it can get paid. I spend days, sometimes weeks analysing a niche before deciding to enter it - the reason is, I know full well that it has to be a cash spinning MONSTER for me to make a solid return out of it. As a general rule, if you cannot make a clear profit of $600 a day from a niche (after it's set up and running) it's not worth running a business within it. 1. We're assuming average affiliate sales commission of 5% of each holiday sale (in actual fact it can vary between 3% and 10% depending on the travel product and company). This may sound like a low commission, but 5% on a $10,000 sale returns $500 in commissions to you. And in the Malaysia travel niche, this is more the norm than the exception (and indeed, some sales get past $30,000).

2. We're assuming a conversion rate of only 1% (that means we're assuming only one person in a hundred will actually generate a commission from your site).

Now, there are different types of holiday buyers, and these different groups will spend different amounts through your affiliate link. We'll now see what these groups are and how much they'll contribute toward your commissions:

• Honeymoon/Marriage Bookings (1 per thousand visitors) - Malaysia is a very popular destination for honeymooners, and a whopping $23,000 is spent on a typical 2 week honeymoon to Malaysia. These bookings are rare as the 0.1% conversion shows, but when they come along (and once your site is up and running, they will) they're very high paying. Just one of these will generate a cool $1,150 in affiliate commissions for you. How does that stack up against other niches where $50 in commissions is often seen as hitting the jackpot?
  

• Family Bookings On Top/Mid Range Resorts (3 per thousand visitors) - Family bookings to top/mid range are typically very lucrative, simply because they include an average of four people in five and four star resorts. For the purpose of this calculation we're going to stay conservative and assume that every one of these bookings will be only for one week only for a family of four. The average amount per booking for a family of 4 comes to $7,400 per booking which equates to commissions of $370 for you. 
  

• Couples On Top/Mid Range Resorts (5 per thousand visitors) - This is the most common group of travellers to Malaysia. Typically, married or dating couples and these generate an average booking fee of $3,700. That's commissions of $185 per booking.
  

• Other Booking Types (1 per thousand visitors) - Hotels or flights only, this group generates approximately $30 in commission per transaction.. 

Remember, this model uses real commission rates and a conversion rates of just 1%. Even so, here are the commissions generated per 1,000 site visitors to your site:

That's an average of $3,215 per 1,000 targeted site visitors on affiliate commissions alone - with conservative figures, and not taking into account any of the Clickbank/Adsense/Amazon income your website templates are also designed to generate. 

So, let's now incorporate some basic numbers for Adsense and Clickbank and see what additional revenues your site will generate. Here are the assumptions we'll make for this part:

1. Clickbank only achieves a 1% sale rate, with an average commission of $30 (in fact, I'll set your blog up to get commissions of $49 on a very popular travel product, but we're staying with being conservative hence the lower commission figure used).

2. Adsense only achieves a 5% clickthrough rate with $1 per click. I want you to understand I have significantly understated the Adsense returns - travel is one of the most responsive Adsense niches, many people use Adsense ads as part of their travel plan/booking research and for a good site it results in both an increase in the CTR as well as an increase in the number of ads each visitor clicks. I've used an unusually low Adsense estimate for purposes of being conservative.

These projections would add an extra $300 per thousand site visitors to your site. That means, your site could be generating as much as $3,515 per thousand site visitors. Again, after you get your blog set-up with your Adsense & Clickbank affiliate links, you can start customising it with additional affiliate links from the top travel companies if you wish.

There are some travel affiliates who are ordinary work from home entrepreneurs that are generating commissions well in excess of $50,000 per month from their travel sites. How? By having a good site, affiliating with the right companies, and understanding how to drive lots of targeted traffic to their site.
